Laying the foundation for one of the first universities to adopt Canada’s National Standard for the Mental Health and Well-Being for Post-Secondary Students - Acadia University

Acadia committed to building a safer, healthier campus for its students by deciding to be an early adopter of the Standard, and we were thrilled to support them in that work.

We started by conducting an in-depth audit of their existing mental health services and supports against the Standard to identify gaps, promising practices and areas for growth. This work included extensive stakeholder engagement through town halls, surveys and interviews to ensure all recommended actions would be grounded in the needs and experiences of students, staff and faculty.

Then, using the findings from our audit, we developed a roadmap for improvements and a corresponding mental health strategy to bring the Standard to life on Acadia’s campus.

We equipped Acadia with the plan and tools they needed to effectively and efficiently realize their goal of being one of the first universities in Canada to adopt the National Standard, setting an example for other campuses across the country.
